How To Make Soy Candles (video tutorial)

Why choose soy wax over beeswax and paraffin?

Soy wax is a natural compound. It is a biodegradable resource and easily rinses up with plain soapy water. Soy wax candles burn longer than paraffin candles vs. beeswax candles don’t hold the scent properly and the wicks on beeswax candles often get chocked up with melted wax that makes them not burn properly – which is a huge downside. Paraffin candles are also found to be releasing toxic chemicals that are carcinogen for humans.

Since I made this research and tried making so many candles with beeswax (I never tried making any with paraffin), I was somewhat disappointed and stopped making candles for some time. After some time I was passing through the candle isle at the store and almost bought a few, then I remembered that I’ve never tried to make a candle with soy wax. I placed candles that I picked back on the counter, purchased soy wax, and made a few candles at home. I was so excited with my results and candles did burn properly and they do hold up the scent very well – which is amazing! Soy candles are now one of my favorite, and I really enjoy making them at home.

Always prepare you candle jars before pouring in the mixture. I chose amber glass candle jars, with regular size wicks and stickers for the wicks. It’s better to use a tall stainless steel pitcher with the pouring lip to reduce extra mess. I melted soy wax inside my stainless steel pitcher that I placed inside the simmering hot water in a bigger pot where my pitcher could fit. So, my pitcher is about 6 cups capacity in total, and I filled it all up with soy wax. It is better to mix soy wax with chop stick. It’s just cleaner that way. Mix occasionally until soy wax is completely melted. Then add any essential oil scents of your choice or candle oil fragrance. Mix and pour while the mixture is still hot. Be careful, the handle of a pitcher will be very hot, so arrange to grab it with the heat protection glove or an oven mitt. With about 6 cups of soy wax, I had a total of 3 (8oz) full candle jars filled with the mixture and a fourth jar filled to about 1/3 of a jar. So, prepare the amount of jars accordingly. Wait until the wax hardens completely before trimming the wicks with scissors. Once everything is done ✔, you can now burn your candle and enjoy the aroma therapy in your sweet home.

I really enjoy making these candles as little gifts to my friends and family. Hand made products are so much more valuable!

How to make a deodorant (video tutorial)

Before you decide to make a deodorant, decide on the scent (essential oils) you want to add into the mixture. There are several good options available and are not hard to find for both male and female. For female – recommended oil scents are – ylang ylang, jasmine, lavender, rose, magnolia, lime and lemon. For male – recommended oil scents are – bergamot, sandalwood, black pepper, fir and cypress. If you find additional essential oil scents with soft and soothing aroma – great! Experiment and have fun with it!

Body care is one of the most important aspects in life and choosing a product with safe ingredients sometimes becomes a big challenge. Learning how to make your own self care product is another level of ART – in my opinion! So, don’t give up! You will be a pro in No Time!

Let’s talk about one ingredient – Baking Soda – in self care products. Is Baking Soda toxic or safe?

There is only one type of Baking Soda – that is with its original name “Sodium Bicarbonate”. For cleaning, beauty care and in baking, same Sodium Bicarbonate is used. Baking soda can be dangerous if taken INTERNALLY in large doses. It may cause vomiting or diarrhea. So, in this post I don’t suggest anyone taking baking soda internally. Please talk to your healthcare professional about the correct dosages. Using it topically is different and this ingredient has so much benefits. Let’s be honest, there are many myths that were spread in the internet how baking soda is toxic and dangerous! But, is it really?! One key ingredient in a deodorant is Baking Soda – that blocks odor, complexion improver, natural exfoliant and a skin softener. DON”T SKIP Baking Soda ingredient in your deodorants! This is your KEY ingredient.

Directions:

You can use a stainless steel pot or a double broiler – works safe either way. Melt together these ingredients until well incorporated:

  • 1/4 cups of bees wax; 1/4 cups coconut oil (or you can choose your favorite seed oil); 1/4 cups of Shea butter; 1/4 cups baking soda; 3 tbsp arrow root powder;
  • Turn off heat and then add 40 drops of lavender essential oil + 20 drops of lemon essential oil (optional, you can add your favorite scents of your choice)

Once mixed, quickly poor the mixture into an empty deodorant container. Allow mixture to cool and harden keeping the container in the upright position before use. Enjoy your new deodorant!

How to make Lip Balm (video tutorial)

Opt in for a safer and a natural alternative to address your health concerns. Instead of using common personal care products that contain toxic ingredients, what if you had access to an alternative that could achieve same results – or even better results, without damaging your body? You have come to the right place. I am sharing with proven, safe and clean self care product ingredients here with all the tutorials you need, so you too can make one for yourself and for your family. I want to help you achieve good health and vibrant living.

I used stainless steel mini saucepan with a pouring lip which I placed on top of a bigger saucepan with 2 inches of simmering hot water to melt my bees wax. Stainless steel pans are safe and a clean way to prepare all your mixtures. I find mini saucepan with a pouring lip – are the most convenient and they don’t create any extra mess when pouring the mixture, so this is something you might also consider before making your lip balms.

Lip Balm mixture is safe to be poured in a plastic lip balm jars, fancy little glass jars, or in any stainless steel lip balm tins. You make the choice!

    So, let’s begin…

    Direction:

    • I added 4tbsp bees wax (melt completely in a medium high heat stirring occasionally)
    • 6tbsp coconut oil (stir until well incorporated)
    • about 3 drops of vitamin E (stir until well incorporated)
    • Turn off the heat and/or remove from heat adding 20 drops of any essential oil blend. My favorite is Lemon and Lavender essential oil blend.
    • It’s way easier to stir this kind of mixture with a chopstick.
    • Once everything is well incorporated, transfer the mixture into the lip balm jars or tins. Leave untouched until the mixture is solid and hard. Be creative!

Enjoy your lip balms and make sure to save some for a great GIFT idea!

How to make melt and pour soap (video tutorial)

I hope this blog will become a go-to guide for anyone who wants to protect and improve their health through the use of clean and natural ingredients with therapeutically graded essential oils.

Everyone loves to have a bar of soap in their shower or bath. How about learning how to make your own bar of soap with ingredients that are not hard to find. Amazon will probably become your number one online store for all your supplies and so on… at least it is true for me!

Making soap from a prepared soap base is fairly easy and a quick way to do it. You can purchase soap base in any store’s craft section or online. I choose more natural products with safer ingredients – for this one reason we even want to make our own, right?

It’s also safe on any equipment – I used a non-stick pot on a medium high heat and you can do the same! Just remember, don’t over boil the mixture or it will end up covered in suds.

    • Video Tutorial

You can use any Soap Base you like, and I used 5lb Clear Glycerin Soap Base, just click on the highlighted words to see the Soap Base.

    Instructions:

    • 1/3 (that is about 1lb.60oz) of 5lb. soap base cut into little pieces. (you don’t need to be perfect in soap base measurements since it always varies on the type of soap base).
    • Melt completely on a medium high heat, stir regularly.
    • 1/4 cups Almond Oil.
    • 1/3 cups Aloe Vera Juice.
    • 1tsp green tea powder. Stir in the hot mixture, combine until completely incorporated.
    • Add 50 drops of your favorite essential oil blend for fall/winter season. I added BREATHE from doTERRA.
    • Pour the mixture into the soap mold. (I used regular size soap mold that is 6 in one mold. Total of 8 soaps from this mixture).
    • Remove from mold after 6 to 8 hours. Enjoy your soap and save some for an amazing GIFT idea!!!
